Senator Burton Casts Vote to Establish Senate Rules, Strengthen Conservative Agenda for the 84th Legislative Session.
AUSTIN, TX — Senator Konni Burton (R-Colleyville) today cast her vote to approve the operating rules (Senate Resolution 39) for the Texas Senate during the 84th Legislative Session. Key among the changes to the rules, the Texas Senate will be lowering the threshold by which bills can be heard on the Senate Floor from two- thirds of members present to three-fifths, or sixty percent.
“Today marks an important step towards safeguarding our hard earned prosperity in Texas,” commented Sen. Burton. “Under the Senate rules we established today, conservatives will have the opportunity to act on items such as securing the border, improving education, and providing tax relief to Texas families. These are the issues voters overwhelmingly elected us to do, and now we must act on our campaign promises.”
