Sen. Konni Burton Joins AG Ken Paxton in Calling on
Fort Worth ISD to Provide Public Access to Curriculum
COLLEYVILLE, TX – State Senator Konni Burton (R-Colleyville) adds her voice to concerns over parents’ inability to access their students’ human sexuality teaching materials in the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD).
“State law is crystal clear: parents and the public have a right to access and inspect any and all teaching materials used by a school district. I stand alongside parents who seek to know what curriculum is being taught to their children in their public school. The district needs to make the entirety of its teaching materials available to the public at once.”
Attorney General Ken Paxton issued the district a letter warning that its practice violated state law and his own written opinion relating to a similar issue involving the district in 2016.
Burton concluded, “I expect the district to do the right thing and give parents and taxpayers the transparency and openness that is rightly theirs.”
Senator Burton serves Senate District 10 which includes Fort Worth and surrounding areas in Southern and Northeast Tarrant County.
