SEN. KONNI BURTON CONGRATULATES THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS OF SENATE DISTRICT 10 FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE ON STATE ACCOUNTABILITY RATINGS
Burton highlights academic achievement and encourages public involvement in education
COLLEYVILLE, TX – State Senator Konni Burton (R-Colleyville) enthusiastically congratulates the public school districts of Senate District 10 on their exceptional performance on the state’s new A-F accountability system.
“I am proud to represent a community with truly exceptional public schools. Out of the 11 school districts I represent, 7 of them earn a “B” grade or higher—4 of which, earn a rock-solid “A”; I attribute this success to the diligent work of remarkable professional educators, and school staff as well as community and parental involvement,” Burton said.
After initially passing in 2015, the new A-F accountability system required almost immediate reforms. Senator Burton worked closely with the superintendents of Senate District 10 to source their input and make sure that the reform bill of 2017 addressed local concerns.
Burton continued, “I am pleased to see the implementation of legislation I have continually supported that grades schools the same way they grade students: with a number and letter grade. I believe this measure is simple and clear so parents and the public can instantly know where their district stands.”
“I urge parents to seek out this information as a part of their active partnership with schools in the education of their children. I am hopeful that the new ratings will make this process more transparent,” concluded Burton.
The new accountability ratings can be found at www.txschools.org
Senator Burton serves Senate District 10 which includes Fort Worth and surrounding areas in Southern and Northeast Tarrant County.
