January’s campaign finance filings for Senate District 10 candidates has confirmed that Konni Burton leads all candidates, Republican and Democrat, in the race to replace Wendy Davis. In addition, Burton has dominated the grassroots contest, garnering a long list of precinct chairs, GOP area leaders, conservative elected officials, and important statewide leaders.
“We’re thrilled with the pace of our campaign thus far,” commented Burton. “Our team spends every waking hour on the ground walking precincts, attending Tarrant County events of all kinds, and fighting to take back SD 10 from the Democrats. I’m humbled by the great grassroots support we’ve received, and I can’t thank folks like Rafael Cruz, Congressman Marchant, and our fantastic conservative State Representatives who have added their voice to our campaign.”
Burton holds a significant “cash on hand” advantage over both Democrat and Republican rivals. Despite other candidates in the GOP primary having held office, or recently touted their support from the business community, Burton beat both into first place with a significant lead in small donors. Since the beginning of her campaign Burton has received 465 individual donations, with 355 unique donors.
