AUSTIN, TX— Senator Konni Burton (R-Colleyville) today announced her committee assignments for the 84th Legislature. Burton will serve as Vice Chairman of the Veterans Affairs and Military Installations Committee, and additionally will serve on the Higher Education, Criminal Justice, and Nominations Committees.

“I am excited to start work on the committee assignments Lt. Governor Patrick handed down this afternoon,” commented Senator Burton. “It’s truly an honor to serve as Vice Chair of the Veteran’s Affairs and Military Installations Committee, and I look forward to making real progress on issues like Veteran’s mental health and properly caring for our Texas men and women in uniform. I also look forward to helping improve our higher education system in Texas and beginning the process of lowering tuition and preparing our students for skilled, high paying jobs.  These committee assignments are a stellar opportunity to act on issues like border security and increasing government transparency that we campaigned on last November.”
